Posted by mixmoff On October - 15 - 2010

Surely it’s a mistake, and it’ll undoubtedly get fixed soon, but Fable II is currently free on XBL Marketplace. If you visit the marketplace page for the game you will find it offered for the low low price of FREE.

Though most people with a 360 will have played this treasure by this point, those of you who missed the boat should jump on this chance to snatch a great game for nothing.

Steam launches for Mac (oh and Portal's free for all)

Posted by mixmoff On May - 12 - 2010

Mac users, your time has come. Steam is out on Mac now, and it offers cross-platform play with the PC community.

As a kickass side note, Portal is free until May 24th. Just for the hell of it. You rock, Valve.

Portal used to cost money. Until May 24th, it’s free. End of story.

Well, technically speaking, there are some strings attached. Fortunately, they’re entirely decorative. We just like the way they look, swaying in the gentle breeze created by a million people simultanously fainting from shock at the news that Portal is free. Now you have no reason not to try Portal.

“I have a reason,” some of you are probably typing into an angry email. “You see, sir, I own a Mac.”

Well guess what: For the first time ever, Portal is also available for the Mac.

“Capitol news! But the excellent puzzle adventure Portal won over 40 Game of the Year awards; Surely it must cost at least five or six hundred dollars.”

You’d think that, especially since it actually won over 70 Game of the Year Awards. But, like we keep saying, Portal is free. Free on the Mac. Free on the PC. But only until May 24th. So you only have a few days to decide if your free copy of Portal is worth the price we’re currently charging – which is you ever-so-slightly moving your index finger just barely enough to click the big red “download” button right there to the left.

Cheaper Than The Real Thing: Crayon Physics Deluxe

Posted by Aevan On January - 11 - 2010

In what has become a DD tradition, it seems that when games reach a certain anniversary, the developers decide that they no longer want to rip everyone off.  I shouldn’t say Rip Off, really… most games are priced fair for the amount of fun you get out of them and the delight that they  bring to otherwise meaningless existences.  World Of Goo was the first game to do this [that I am aware of] and now it seems that the makers of Crayon Physics Deluxe has decided to follow suit.

Pay A Penny?  Pay A Billion Dollars?

Well, that’s up to you and your moral compass, but either way it’s going on until January 15th.

Honoring Independent Developers: Tipoli

Posted by Aevan On December - 6 - 2009

All of us here behind the scenes at Fall Damage believe that all great developers get their start with nothing more than an idea, a dream, and a passion to see it through..  To celebrate and honor this ideal, we will be bringing you new games that we’ve found through our adventures.  Hopefully, this will mean that we will do our small part to see up and coming developers reach the rank and prestige of companies such as Level 5, Valve and Naughty Dog.

This week I would like to introduce you to a marvelous little game called Tipoli.  It’s a one button iPhone game with huge potential and unlimited fun brought to our eager hands by Proper Walrus and published by Divide By Zero Games.  If you are craving something indubitably addictive and you just happen to have an iPhone at your disposal than there is truly no reason not to go and get yourself a copy of Tipoli.

The good news gets even better once you hear that for the first week Tipoli is only 99 cents in the apps store!  Yes, you read that right.  Only 99 Cents, People.  So go out there, support those big time dreamers with even bigger ideas, and who knows what wonderous things we might see from them in the future!

Oh, and for those who want the game but just can’t be bothered searching for it?  [I know, the internet is a scary place. o_o]  Here is a direct link for download!  Or, if you want to read more about the developers themselves, and the process that Tipoli has gone through to become what it is now; here is a link for your reading enjoyment

And because writing a whole article with piles of information would mean that I’d have to pretend to be an actual journalist, keep your ears open for a future podcast [fingerscrossed] hopefully interviewing one of the Proper Walrus team!

Tomb Raider: Underworld $7.49

Posted by Aevan On December - 5 - 2009
Underworld On Sale

Normally 29.99, now just 7.49!

Tomb Raider: Underworld represents a new advancement in exploration-based gameplay. As fearless adventurer Lara Croft explore exotic locations around the world, each designed with an incredible attention to detail resulting in breathtaking high-definition visual fidelity that creates a truly believable world and delivers a new level of challenge and choice.

As always Steam is pumping out the deals that keeps them ahead of the digital gaming crowd, and this weekend is no different.  Have you been craving a little Lara Croft action?  Were you scorned by the atrocity of Tomb Raider: Anniversary, but delightfully surprised by Tomb Raider: Legend?  Underworld will put you somewhere in the middle if that was the case.    A beautiful game in its own right, that lacks during certain moments.  Tons of fun to play, if you’re not looking for too much out of a new Croft adventure and just want something… typical.

Worth 29.99?   Definitely not.  Worth 7.49?  Oh, very much yes and thank you Steam for being ever vigilant in selling games for the price they actually warrent.  [sometimes.]

Steam's Midweek Madness Won't Clash With Your Wallet

Posted by DestinedCruz On December - 2 - 2009

ZEHCLASH

This week for the traditional mid-week sale, Zeno Clash is 66% off on Steam, allowing you to pick up this absolutely bizarre Source engine-based indie gem for just five of your US dollars and ten of their percents.

Zeno Clash is what I can only refer to as a ‘first-person-brawler’, with a lot of obvious inspiration taken from games like Streets of Rage and Final Fight in terms of gameplay mechanics, and some kind of crazy psychotropic substance induced fever dream for the setting. It’s also quite good, so I recommend taking a peek if you have five bucks burning a hole in your pocket.

You can head over to the Steam Store page and pick it up for $5.10 right here.

Steam Weekend Deal: Mass Effect $9.99

Posted by Aevan On November - 5 - 2009

MEPIC

Do you love Mass Effect as much as our Podcast Hosts do, but you haven’t had the finances to spare for the 20 dollar game?  Have no fear, mere mortals!!  This weekend Steam [who you all know I love, worship and generally hump when I can] is hacking the price in half just for all you special little snow flakes.  I know I’m snagging it up so I can have my own copy on my own computer instead of constantly having to share Cruz-Face’s.  You should too because there’s really no reason not to.  SO GO BUY IT, support steam, support Bioware…support the collective.
