Direct2Drive Sales Better Than They Actually Are

Capture

During my morning lurk on the PC digital distribution websites, I stumbled upon the Direct2Drive 24 Days of Christmas Sale, where each day this month will see a different game on sale until Christmas Eve. Today’s sale is The Witcher Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut for 50% off, making it $19.99 until tomorrow morning.

However, I noticed something else very interesting. Mirror’s Edge appeared as being on sale for $4.95 according to their main page, which I jumped all over because I forgot to pick it up on Steam this weekend. However, after clicking the link, the price in the checkout was $19.95. Suffice to say, I’m a little disappointed. I wanted Mirror’s Edge for $5 D:

Still though, keep an eye on their website for the coming deals this month. Here’s hoping they have some awesome stuff coming up!

EDIT: Looks like they fixed it finally, about an hour after I first saw it. Mirror’s Edge is listed at $19.95 now. Sad day.

SECOND EDIT: Looks like this is going to happen every day of the sale, The Witcher is still listed for $19.95 until you get to the checkout. This amuses me greatly.

Steam's Midweek Madness Won't Clash With Your Wallet

ZEHCLASH

This week for the traditional mid-week sale, Zeno Clash is 66% off on Steam, allowing you to pick up this absolutely bizarre Source engine-based indie gem for just five of your US dollars and ten of their percents.

Zeno Clash is what I can only refer to as a ‘first-person-brawler’, with a lot of obvious inspiration taken from games like Streets of Rage and Final Fight in terms of gameplay mechanics, and some kind of crazy psychotropic substance induced fever dream for the setting. It’s also quite good, so I recommend taking a peek if you have five bucks burning a hole in your pocket.

You can head over to the Steam Store page and pick it up for $5.10 right here.

Killing Floor Free Weekend – ZOMBIES COMIN' UP THE HELL!

Posted by DestinedCruz On October - 21 - 2009

It has recently been brought to my attention (that and Aevan beat me to it last night, but I’m taking all the credit!) that mod-turned-retail mutant/zombie/cyborg smasher slaughtering co-operative survival horror first person shooter Killing Floor is going free for this weekend only! Now hang on a moment, before you think this is positively the best deal ever, this means that you can play the game for free this weekend starting tomorrow through the rest of the weekend. After this period is over, you have to go buy the game (which I highly recommend, it is quite good).

This free weekend deal is coinciding with the new downloadable content for the game, which includes three new maps and seven new weapons, marking this as the largest expansion yet for the co-operative survival horror game. Better yet, you also get to play this new content over the weekend!

So grab five friends, a shotgun and a bag of grenades and get ready to weld those doors shut!

Destructive Deal Of The Day WEEKEND DEAL

Lurking the Steam store today has revealed a very exciting little piece of information, it seems as though Red Faction: Guerrilla is on sale for one day only THE WHOLE WEEKEND! Down from the regular price of $39.99, the latest game in the series is on sale for $29.99. I highly recommend picking this game up, as it was one of the best games I have played all year. Incredibly addictive full realistic physics based destruction which lets you destroy pretty much anything you can find, with buildings and other structured all breaking down and crumbling in very impressive detail. The story and characters may be extremely transparent and cliche, but who cares when it’s this much fun? Volition knew that when they were making this game, nobody is going to play it for the story. The multiplayer is also a fresh take on the standard shooter fare with deathmatch and capture the flag modes, but with fully destructible structures which add a whole new element of strategy.

Go get it now right here.

I absolutely, one hundred and twenty percent did not get this wrong and have to edit this news post after finding out this was a weekend deal. That is all.

How Much Would You Goo?

I’ve been waiting to post this all morning, as 2DBoy’s website seems to be down from the sheer amount of traffic that this must be generating, as they have a VERY special deal to mark the one year anniversary of the game’s release.

Head over to their website today and for the next six days, and you can name your price for World of Goo. Yep, that’s right! You can offer to pay a penny, a hundred or even $7524.81, and World of Good can be yours! But really guys, let’s try not to be cheap here.

Gamer Deals of the Week[end]

Get Your Groove On

This weekend on Steam you can get one of the most fantastic audio based games that ever existed.  Audiosurf is now just $4.99 for their weekend special and a definite recommend if you have a large music library.  Navigate through various difficulty levels as you rock out to your own tunes, moving your rocket ship left to right with your mouse in order to collide with specifically colored blocks.  Sounds simple, is simple, is AWESOME.
Preorder It Now
Any and all fans who preorder Left 4 Dead 2 will find themselves pleasently surprised to discover just what the bonus is for their penchant to be early.  Valve is offering an additional %10 off the full game price at the time of release, early access to the Demo [also when it is released], and an exclusive in-game American Baseball Bat.   I can’t say that I am excited about that last part, as it’s definitely no Rooster Hat, but we’ll see if they change it up as the weeks pass…

Playing With Balls of Goo Has Never Been So Fun

Direct2Drive is [still] having their 5 year anniversary sale, and this week you can pick up your own copy of World of Goo for just $5.00.   If you happen to be one of the few unfortunate souls who hasn’t had a chance to play the demo, or if you don’t own the game yet …then GO BUY IT.
World of Goo is a multiple award winning physics based puzzle / construction game made entirely by two guys. Drag and drop living, squirming, talking, globs of goo to build structures, bridges, cannonballs, zeppelins, and giant tongues. The millions of Goo Balls that live in the beautiful World of Goo are curious to explore – but they don’t know that they are in a game, or that they are extremely delicious.
