Gun Loco Appears to Have Guns, Be Loco

Posted by Mixmoff On August - 16 - 2010

Today Square Enix announced a new third person shooter exclusive to the 360. Gun Loco takes place on a distant prison planet where the forgotten inmates fight amongst one another in an anarchic society. Gameplay description is surprisingly vague, but so far it’s looking like Twisted Metal…. without cars.

Featuring unique third-person, sprint-action shooter gameplay, players can assume the roles of a variety of unique and memorable characters in a game that redefines the run-and-gun shooter. While pursuing and being pursued by their opponents, players must make use of the sprint-action play by running, jumping, ducking and vaulting, using the environments to their advantage.

Ok so maybe Brink meets Twisted Metal… without cars.

New Vanquish Trailer Knocks Some Blocks Off

Posted by Mixmoff On August - 10 - 2010

Shinji Mikami is probably best known as the brains behind the Resident Evil series, but he’s had his influence on more motion oriented Capcom franchises in the past like Viewtiful Joe and Devil May Cry as part of the highly revered and sorely missed Clover Studios. Vanquish is his first game with Platinum Games, the Bayonetta developer he helped found in 2006, and it looks to take that frenzied motion up a notch.

Set in the near future, Vanquish imagines the US and Russia in a fierce battle for Earth’s remaining natural resources. Not content to keep this war cold, Russia wipes out San Fransisco with a space laser. Now only one man can storm the space station and save the day! Pro tip: It’s you!

Vanquish will release on October 19, 2010 on PS3 and Xbox 360

EA Announces Create, Entire World Yawns

Posted by Mixmoff On August - 2 - 2010

Today EA announced a new game coming Fall 2010. As you can see in the trailer above, Create looks to be a playground challenge type game obviously inspired by LittleBigPlanet. Lacking in the trailer above is any cute adorable face of this engine, a la Sackboy and company.

“Create uses families’ imaginations to develop new ways to play together that are both fun and challenging,” said Harvey Elliott, VP and General Manager at EA Bright Light. “We wanted to design a game where the entire family can explore, decorate, and solve challenges where no solution is wrong and the only limit is the imagination.”

For those new to the industry, the keyword here appears to be “family”.

Rumored for months, the crossover fighting games by two of the genre’s heaviest hitters were announced at Comic-Con this weekend.

Our biggest question after hearing the rumors was a simple one: 2d or 3d? Looks like we have our answer… and it’s both.

Capcom’s handling the Street Fighter X Tekken version, and it will be rendered lovingly in the waterbrush painted style of Street Fighter 4. Namco hasn’t shown anything of the Tekken X Street Fighter doppleganger, though word is we’ll see that game presented in Tekken’s familiar 3d setup.

So which one will you be getting? And will the Mortal Kombat franchise ever regain enough of a semblance of credibility to get their own shot at Capcom?

Ten years after American McGee creeped us all out with Alice, he returns to the series where he made his name. Alice: Madness Returns has been announced by EA and Spicy Horse games, and the launch trailer is everything you’d expect.

Alice: Madness Returns takes place 10 years after the conclusion of the original game, with Alice struggling to recover from the emotional trauma of losing her entire family in a fatal fire. After spending a decade institutionalized in an insane asylum, she is finally released to the care of a psychiatrist who just may be able to help her conquer the nightmarish hallucinations that still haunt her. Alice embarks on a mission to root out the true cause of her family’s mysterious death, jumping from a gloomy and stark London to a rich and provocative Wonderland.

So there you go, your run of the mill happy-go-lucky kids game.

Kung Fu LIVE Trailer from Comic-Con

Posted by Mixmoff On July - 20 - 2010

from blog.us.playstation.com
For those of you PlayStation Eye owners or future PlayStation Move owners, this trailer gives you a better look at exactly how our own Freemotion technology will work when tracking your entire body without any controllers. As you can see, we always find it’s best to let loose when playing the game, and dressing up in your favorite ‘bad-ass’ outfit is something we definitely recommend. As far as weapons go, the single-player experience is currently controller-free, and players can use their own inanimate objects to take down enemies with much more style!

Ow my everything. The first 15 minutes of playing this game when it’s still fun will be so glorious.
