So, now that Borderlands is officially out on consoles as of today (read: I get shafted until next week), it would be a fitting time to show you exactly why you need to buy ‘the best f***ing game ever made’.
IGN in collaboration with Gearbox created this wonderful (and badass) reason to buy the game. I think it gets the point across fairly well.
Neverdaunt: 8-bit is a wonderful looking new MMO with a very interesting twist. Instead of the standard fare of running around medieval/cyberpunk/urban/alien worlds killing Bazillions of monsters grinding experience/gold/fish, Neverdaunt: 8-bit takes the approach of allowing players to build their own 8-bit worlds to their own desires, all with a delightful retro 8-bit theme.
There is, however, a catch.
Once you have built your perfect 8-bit themed ‘Cell’, you can switch to what is called ‘Static Mode’, in which you have to defend your Cell from other players. This may sound like a stupid idea, but it one of the key ways in gaining the game’s currency of ‘Tokens’. Every ten minutes your Cell is in Static mode, you gain one Token. Get Tokens, buy more Stuff, build up your Cell and so forth.
The game looks very interesting, and the graphics are unique and interesting. The game is in beta right now, so head over to their website and give it a try! Hope to see you there!
Square-Enix have recently released a new trailer for their forthcoming Wii RPG set in the Crystal Chronicles universe, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.
It seems an interesting decision for Square to take a typically multiplayer centric series and set a single player game in the same universe, but if the game is half as awesome as this trailer is then it looks like they may have a winner on their hands. The combat looks unique and interesting, the story definitely looks epic, and the voice acting has that wonderful over-the-top Saturday morning cartoon energy to it. Also, chicks in bikinis.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers is due out November 12th in Japan, December 26th in the US, and February 2010 in PAL territories.
I’m going to take the path of arrogance here and say that Capcom released a new trailer that actually shows the new characters AND gameplay footage for Super Street Fighter IV simply because I complained about the last one.
It can be my own little fantasy world where I’m best friends with Capcom and they care about my opinion. Kinda like Mix, Aevan and Frozenbyte Inc.
Square Enix showed a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII this week at TGS, and it sure looks fancy. The only problem was, the trailer was in Japanese, so those of us that don’t speak the language have no idea what’s going on.
Lucky for us, Gametrailers have added English subtitles and have given us something we can try and follow along with. I myself still have no idea what’s going on, and what the hell a l’Cie or a fal’Cie are supposed to be, but it sure does look pretty. I’d also like to have seen the pseudo-realtime battle system from Final Fantasy XII make a return, but it appears as though the popular ATB (Active Time Battle) system made famous by Final Fantasies IV through IX is being used this time around, with a strong focus on intense cinematic action sequences.
Now when exactly are we going to see the game stateside, Square Enix? Can I see that at the end of a trailer sometime soon? Pretty please?
Capcom today released a new trailer for their upcoming standalone expansion/sequel/Super Enhanced Champion EX Alpha Edition to Street Fighter IV. Whilst the trailer actually shows zero to nothing in terms of actual gameplay, it is a beautifully rendered fight between Ken and Ryu performed in much the same way as the original Street Fighter IV trailer. More details after the cut. Read the rest of this entry »
