If you've ever thought about getting into the field of voice acting, this is a great watch. It will make you think a bit... "Do I really want to do this?" "...worth the money?"
It doesn't cover everything (how could it possibly?) but it does provide a lot of information for fans who have always wanted to know more about how it works
Especially great for anime fans (like myself) since it has interviews with voice actors like Steven Blum, Crispin Freeman and Yuri Lowenthal!
Throughout it, you get to listen to
many anime recording artists, and you can easily tell that the people interviewed are professionals who both know what they are doing, and have fun doing it at the same time. You not only get to receive first hand advice from them, but hear about their relatable stories about how they grew up, bringing a great 3-dimensional aspect to it, and deferring away from what some people may call a "video textbook".
The only thing that I thought might have brought it up, is more example clips of anime and the voice over artists at work. There were a number of them in there, mind you, but they were few and far between, thrown in almost arbitrarily. It would have brought the energy up to the documentary, but all in all was still a great watch.
It's definitely a DVD worth picking up, especially if you're interested in voice over work as either a fan or even an aspiring actor. It's very informative, fun, lighthearted, and all around a good watch.
And if you don't wanna buy it (like me ^^) some kind fella has posted a 480p version of it in his YouTube playlist.
