Square Enix showed a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII this week at TGS, and it sure looks fancy. The only problem was, the trailer was in Japanese, so those of us that don’t speak the language have no idea what’s going on.
Lucky for us, Gametrailers have added English subtitles and have given us something we can try and follow along with. I myself still have no idea what’s going on, and what the hell a l’Cie or a fal’Cie are supposed to be, but it sure does look pretty. I’d also like to have seen the pseudo-realtime battle system from Final Fantasy XII make a return, but it appears as though the popular ATB (Active Time Battle) system made famous by Final Fantasies IV through IX is being used this time around, with a strong focus on intense cinematic action sequences.
Now when exactly are we going to see the game stateside, Square Enix? Can I see that at the end of a trailer sometime soon? Pretty please?

Quick little post! As more information comes in on Blazblue: Continuum Shift, I, BossGoji, your resident weeaboo, will be here to give you the scoop. We’ve now got detailed information on the character changes so far, including new moves and what’s been altered about gameplay, thanks to the good folks at the Dustloop Forums. You can read about all the new stuff here. Warning: written in fighting game jargon, look elsewhere for a translation guide.
Once again, mad props to the folks at Dustloop for all the new info!
Capcom today released a new trailer for their upcoming standalone expansion/sequel/Super Enhanced Champion EX Alpha Edition to Street Fighter IV. Whilst the trailer actually shows zero to nothing in terms of actual gameplay, it is a beautifully rendered fight between Ken and Ryu performed in much the same way as the original Street Fighter IV trailer. More details after the cut. Read the rest of this entry »

The DLC is available for free to PC users on Steam, or for 560 Microsoft Points on XBOX Live.

Urgent news from the word of Albion! Today Lionhead has released “Fable II: Game Episodes” which gives Gold Xbox LIVE account holders the ability to download and install Fable II one episode at a time. To tease the product to those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing it, they’ll let you have the first hit for free!
“As an incentive for those curious about the adventures that await them in “Fable II,” Microsoft Game Studios is making the first episode free to download. In this initial episode, players are introduced to the vibrant world of Albion where every choice has a consequence, and are able to experience childhood and the trials of being a young adult. Players can then choose to purchase additional episodes on Xbox LIVE at their own pace.”
Fable II: Games on Demand is available in LIVE enabled regions around the world excluding Japan and Korea

Blazblue: Continuum Shift(scans and gameplay footage at the link), the sequel to Blazblue, has been announced. Confirmed new playable characters include Tsubaki Yayoi, Terumi Yuki, and a more balanced version of Nu-13 known as Lambda-11(who has already been given the fan-nickname “Lamb-Chop”). Additional changes include:
* DRASTIC upward tier-shift for Tager thanks to improved speed and range on moves like Atomic Collider and Sledge Hammer
* Rachel has been nerfed pretty well, putting her somewhere around middle-tier now
* All existing characters get new moves; Rachel gets a new Distortion Drive, Ragna gets a DYNAMIC ENTRY! dropkick, Arakune gets a new curse attack, and Carl gets some kind of projectile, possibly sending him into God Tier contention; those are the only ones known so far
* A brand new HUD, new stages, and updated graphics
Apparently it’s already hit arcades in Japan, and will come out sometime in 2010 for PS3 and 360; rumor has it that it’ll be DLC for those who already have the game, but only time will tell.

A sneak preview event is being held for Naughty Dog’s upcoming AAA release Uncharted 2 and Fall Damage will be there! The event will be taking place simultaneously at four theaters across the US on October 5th and 6th. If you’re not within driving distance of San Fransisco, Thousand Oaks CA, Rosemont IL, or Bellevue WA you’ll sadly be left out of this event, but we’ll bring you the scoop!
I (Mixmoff) will be attending the Rosemont event, as well as competing in the tournament. Win or lose I’ll bring back my take on the full release game (at least what they let me play!)
If you’re headed to the October 6th event, send us an email and I’ll make sure to look for you at the show!
